The Kindle Recaps feature will introduce you to a book series

Amazon compares the new feature for Kindle to the “Previously on…” segments often used in television shows. But the Recap feature on Kindle focuses on book series and provides a “quick recap of storylines and characters” before readers start reading the next book, Amazon says.

The spoiler-free summaries are available to readers for “thousands of English-language Kindle bestselling books in series you’ve purchased or borrowed,” according to Amazon.

You can determine if the series you’re reading has a summary by finding the “View Summary” button “on the series page in your Kindle library.” It will also be available in the ellipsis menu, where you’ll see book series grouped together in the Kindle interface.

The Recaps feature was first introduced in a Kindle software update released last week that also allows Kindle Colorsoft and Paperwhite Signature Edition 12th Generation users to double-tap the back and sides of their e-readers to turn pages or scroll through lists. The Recap feature will be available on a wider range of Kindle devices, including older models that are eligible for the 5.18.1 update.

Amazon says that the update will be rolled out wirelessly over the next few weeks, but it can also be downloaded from the Amazon website and manually installed on the Kindle immediately. Amazon also plans to make it available on its Kindle app for iOS soon.
