Verizon and AT&T have announced important milestones in mobile-to-satellite video calling in partnership with satellite company AST SpaceMobile.
Verizon made the first mobile-to-satellite video call, and AT&T made the first call using satellites that will be used as part of a commercial network. T-Mobile’s deal with SpaceX and Starlink to provide satellite-to-satellite communications services, which launched a public beta for satellite messaging earlier this month, is already competing. AT&T and Verizon have said that T-Mobile and SpaceX‘s proposals could harm their networks.
