Detectives of the BES Territorial Department in Lviv region seized smuggled Apple iPhone mobile phones with an estimated value of UAH 20 million.
The investigation established that the equipment was imported to Ukraine concealed from the State Customs Service. In particular, during the border check, the suspect chose the “green corridor” simplified customs control lane, which is intended for people who do not have goods subject to mandatory declaration or taxation.
During the search of the car, law enforcement officers found contraband mobile phones hidden behind the decorative lining. As a result, 424 iPhones of various models and the car were seized.
The pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceeding on the grounds of a criminal offense stipulated by Part 1 Art. 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling of goods) is being conducted by detectives of the SBU Territorial Directorate in Lviv region.
