A recent test by 懂车帝 (Dongchedi) involving the ZunJie V800 has sparked significant online discussion after the brake pedal support bracket reportedly fractured on three separate occasions during emergency braking tests. 懂车帝 has responded to claims that the test conditions were extreme or that the driver applied excessive force, asserting that the conducted 100 km/h to 0 braking experiment is a standard procedure and not an extreme scenario.

懂车帝 Clarifies Test Conditions and Pedal Force

In response to speculation surrounding the ZunJie V800’s brake pedal bracket failures, 懂车帝 personnel have stated that the braking experiment is a fundamental aspect of vehicle testing and is frequently encountered in real-world high-speed driving. They emphasized that this is the first instance of a brake pedal support bracket fracturing in their tests, and the repeated failures on the same location across three vehicles indicate a potential safety concern.

Addressing the debated pedal force figure of “4589N,” 懂车帝 explained that this was a visual artifact caused by the discrepancy between the refresh rates of the high-speed camera and the testing equipment’s LCD screen. This resulted in a ghosting effect or afterimage on the captured footage. The actual peak pedal force recorded was 1612N. 懂车帝 stated that this lower figure was subsequently captured and circulated as a rumor, distorting the reality of the test.

ZunJie Responds with Quality Assurance and Future Upgrades

Following the widespread attention generated by 懂车帝’s findings, ZunJie Motors issued a statement addressing the concerns regarding the brake pedal bracket base. The company emphasized its commitment to user safety, asserting that its braking system was developed and validated according to standards exceeding national (GB 21670‑2025 / GB 7258‑2026) and industry (QC/T 788‑2018) requirements.

“The braking system directly relates to users’ travel safety, and we highly value the concern generated by the relevant video. ZunJie Motors’ braking system has completed the entire development and verification process according to requirements that exceed national standards (GB 21670‑2025 / GB 7258‑2026) and industry standards (QC/T 788‑2018). Since the delivery of the first batch of vehicles, no brake pedal bracket base fracture failures have occurred in actual user scenarios. User safety is always our first priority. Even in non-standard extreme test conditions, we still aim to provide users with higher safety redundancy: we will further optimize the design of this component and offer free upgrades to delivered users. At the same time, we will conduct a systematic review and reinforcement of the design verification, test boundaries, and production quality management of related components, continuously improving our safety system. Thank you to all users for your attention and supervision of ZunJie Motors.”

ZunJie highlighted that since the initial delivery of vehicles, there have been no reports of brake pedal bracket base failures in real-world usage. Despite this, the company acknowledged the importance of safety redundancy, even in non-standard testing conditions. To address the issue, ZunJie announced plans to further optimize the component’s design and offer a free upgrade option to existing owners. They also committed to a comprehensive review of the design verification, testing parameters, and quality control processes for the component to enhance their safety systems.

Broader Industry Reaction and Investigation

The incident has drawn attention from various stakeholders. Earlier, 懂车帝 reported that three ZunJie V800 vehicles experienced brake pedal bracket breakage during 100 km/h to 0 emergency braking. This led to a flurry of responses, including statements from ZunJie, and indications of further investigation from other entities involved in the automotive ecosystem, such as Harmony Intelligent Mobility (Hongmeng Zhixing) and JAC Motors, which is involved in the manufacturing of the ZunJie vehicles.

JAC Motors had previously stated that they were investigating and conducting tests, with an official statement to follow. Meanwhile, Harmony Intelligent Mobility mentioned that they had not received any related feedback and that delivery cycles remained normal. The public interest in the matter was also noted by figures such as Sina Weibo CEO Wang Gaofei, who commented on the importance of a lack of accident records related to braking issues.

The situation underscores the critical role of rigorous testing in the automotive industry and the importance of transparency in addressing potential safety concerns. As investigations continue and further updates are expected, the industry will be watching closely how ZunJie Motors and its partners address these findings and implement their proposed solutions.
