Until last year, Chinese smartphone brands focused on offering fast charging solutions while slightly reducing battery size. This year, however, the trend has shifted toward phones with larger silicon batteries instead of lithium-ion batteries and fast charging with a power of about 100 watts. Thanks to this, phones can support longer battery life and provide more efficient performance. A new Weibo post by Digital Chat Station suggests that Xiaomi may release a device with a 7,500 mAh battery in the future.
Xiaomi is reportedly testing several battery and charger configurations
According to a source at Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is currently exploring different solutions for fast charging its batteries. The company is considering several configurations, including a 5000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging that can be fully charged in 18 minutes, and a 5500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging that can be fully charged in 34 minutes.
In addition, the company is looking at a 6000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging that charges in 30 minutes, a 6500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging that takes 49 minutes to fully charge, a 7000 mAh battery with 120W fast charging that charges in 40 minutes, and a 7500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging that fully charges in 63 minutes.
Some of Xiaomi’s latest phones, such as the Redmi Note 13 Pro series, Redmi K70 Pro, K70, Redmi Note 12 Pro+, Redmi K60 Ultra, K60 Pro, K50 Ultra, K50 Pro, Xiaomi 13T Pro, Xiaomi 12T series, and Xiaomi 11T Pro, already offer a 5,000mAh + 120W combination. The K70 Ultra, which debuted last month, offers a 5,500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging.
The upcoming Xiaomi 15 series is expected to have silicon batteries with a capacity of around 6,000 mAh. The 15 Ultra, which will be released next year, is expected to have a 6,200 mAh battery.
Typically, 6,500 mAh to 7,500 mAh batteries are sufficient to power entry-level tablets. However, now that brands are working on phones with higher energy density silicon batteries, we may soon see phones with 7,500 mAh batteries.
