Xiaomi Auto has addressed user queries regarding the reliability and functionality of its Pengcheng series car seats, particularly focusing on the extended sliding rails and the N70 Max model’s ability to transform into a bed. In their 282nd ‘Answer to Netizens’ session, the company detailed the robust design of their seat rails and the versatile sleeping configurations.
Pengcheng Series Seat Rail Reliability
Addressing concerns about the ultra-long sliding rails of the Pengcheng series, Xiaomi Auto clarified that seat sliding rails are a standard structural component in all passenger vehicles. The Pengcheng rails extend the sliding range and are built with reinforced material structures, adhering to stringent durability and safety testing standards. The company assured users that these rails have the same wear characteristics and maintenance requirements as conventional rails, posing no additional usage burden.
For reliability, all Pengcheng series seat rails are constructed from 7-series reinforced aluminum alloy. Specifically, the N90 Max model’s seat rails boast a maximum peel strength of 57,000N, ensuring robustness and durability for everyday use. Xiaomi Auto also conducted extensive testing, accumulating 15,000 cycle sliding tests within a temperature range of -20°C to 60°C, reporting no loosening or abnormal noise post-testing.
To combat issues with debris, the rail surfaces are designed with a rubberized leather covering that effectively blocks most foreign objects from falling into the internal mechanism. The gap is only 2.5mm, significantly minimizing the ingress of common contaminants. Xiaomi Auto further conducted invasion tests with various soft debris like pet hair and tissue fragments, as well as small hard objects such as pebbles, toothpicks, and coins. Even when these items accidentally fell into the rails, the system continued to operate smoothly. Cleaning is straightforward, requiring only a vacuum cleaner or a damp cloth. However, the company advises prompt removal of any hard foreign objects to prevent long-term accumulation that could affect performance.
Regarding floor mats, users can install them with confidence. The original factory floor mats are custom-designed to fit the contours of the sliding rails, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality without impeding the rails’ normal operation.
Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 Max: Transforming into a Bed
The Xiaomi Pengcheng N70 Max offers two distinct modes for converting into a bed, enhancing the vehicle’s utility for rest and relaxation.
‘Rear Seat Bed’ Mode
This mode is activated via the central control screen under ‘Seats’ → ‘Space’ → ‘Versatile Bed’ or through voice commands to Xiao Ai. The rear seats automatically move forward, and the backrest reclines backward. With the headrest removed, the optional original ecological mattress creates a spacious sleeping area measuring approximately 1960x1270mm, effectively forming a ‘double bed.’ The space above the mattress is generous, around 700mm, allowing two people to lie down, turn over, and sit up comfortably without feeling cramped.
‘First and Second Row Bed’ Mode
For this configuration, the front headrests need to be removed, and the front seat backrests recline backward to become level with the rear seat cushions. This creates an extended sleeping space of approximately 1.8 meters, suitable for quick naps or cozy movie-watching sessions for two.
