Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group and head of its mobile division, has once again addressed the display crease on the flagship Xiaomi 18 Fold. He highlighted the device’s innovative folding mechanism architecture, which significantly improves control over screen wrinkling.
Innovative Design for Reduced Crease Depth
According to Weibing, the new folding screen architecture in the Xiaomi 18 Fold boasts enhanced durability and impact resistance. This engineering focus has enabled the device to achieve an exceptionally low average crease depth, measuring no more than 30 micrometers (μm).
These efforts are aimed at improving visual clarity and the overall user experience, making the fold on the display considerably less noticeable during use.
Xiaomi 18 Fold: Specifications and Sales Success
The Xiaomi 18 Fold was initially unveiled on September 7th. The smartphone features the innovative Xuanjie O3 chip and sports two displays: a 5.38-inch external screen and a larger 7.58-inch internal display. The rear of the device is adorned with a professional triple-camera module co-engineered with Leica.
The Xiaomi 18 Fold is priced starting from 10,999 yuan.
Back in September, during Xiaomi’s autumn product launch, Lu Weibing also shared impressive sales figures. He reported that the first month of sales for the Xiaomi 18 Fold saw a 300% increase in retail sales volume compared to the previous generation of Xiaomi’s large foldable smartphone.
These metrics indicate strong consumer interest in Xiaomi’s foldable devices and validate the engineering advancements implemented in the new model, particularly its optimized folding mechanism.
