The WeChat app for Huawei’s HarmonyOS has reached a significant milestone, officially surpassing 80 million installations. The latest data indicates the app has been installed 80.2 million times, marking a substantial adoption rate on the HarmonyOS platform.
Key Features and Updates in Version 8.0.22
Alongside this achievement, WeChat has rolled out its 8.0.22 series of versions for early adopters, introducing a range of new features and improvements:
- Personal Profile: A new “My Invoice Title” option has been added to personal profiles.
- Chat Interface: Users can now tap on the timestamp in chats to switch between date, day of the week, and time displays.
- Service Accounts: A new toggle in the Service Account homepage settings allows users to choose to be reminded of private messages as important notifications.
- Friend Information: Enhanced “More Information” for friends now includes a remarks section where users can add notes, phone numbers, tags, memos, and photos.
- Video Account Enhancements:
- A new switch in the Video Account personal center settings allows users to record recently watched videos.
- The “Likes and Collections” section has been updated to “Likes, Collections, and Recently Watched.”
- The top-right corner settings in the Video Account personal center now include the “Record recently watched videos” option.
- Live Streaming: Live stream sharing now includes a “Recommend to Friends” option.
- Storage Management: Within Settings-General-Storage Space-Clear Cache, a new option to clear game cache is available.
- Chat Message Display: Collapsed chat messages with excessively long text now support clicking on links, topics, and mini-program links after expanding.
- Text Selection: Users can now long-press to select text for copying, translation, and search.
- Contact Interface: A feature to fold official and service accounts within the contacts interface is being gradually rolled out.
- Wallet Features: A new order selection tool has been added to the Wallet-Customer Service Center-Tools, allowing users to select specific orders when contacting customer service.
- Service Account Consolidation: All service account messages are now integrated into a dedicated service account module.
- Bug Fixes: Several known issues have been addressed in this update.
