Developer Bulkhead Interactive announced today via X that their first-person tactical shooter, Wardogs, has surpassed an impressive 2 million copies sold and achieved 400,000 concurrent online players. This rapid sales milestone comes just five days after the game’s early access launch on September 10, 2026.
A High-Stakes Tactical Experience
Wardogs thrusts players into a large-scale military sandbox environment designed for up to 100 players. The game masterfully blends tactical gunplay with combined arms warfare, incorporating unique building and destruction mechanics.
Core Gameplay Mechanics
The central objective revolves around three opposing teams vying for control points to earn cash. Survival is key, as players must secure their earnings to stay in the game. The cash system is integral to the high-risk, high-reward design: it dictates the player’s risk tolerance, available equipment, and vehicles. Any in-game death results in the loss of all carried gear, emphasizing the importance of strategic decision-making.
Wardogs supports seamless integration between infantry and vehicle gameplay. Players have a high degree of freedom, able to construct fortifications and alter the terrain to their advantage. Furthermore, the game features cross-team local voice chat, fostering spontaneous interactions and encounters between opposing players.
Early Access Content and Pricing
During this early access phase, Wardogs offers players three distinct maps, each with three variations. The game utilizes a tiered pricing strategy, meaning that purchasing the game earlier results in a lower price. This price is set to increase upon the official launch of the full version. Bulkhead Interactive has confirmed that there will be no in-game purchases for paid content during the early access period, with only optional supporter pack cosmetic bundles available for purchase.
The developer’s announcement highlights the overwhelming positive reception and player engagement, underscoring the success of Wardogs’ tactical shooter formula and its ambitious sandbox design. With millions sold and hundreds of thousands playing simultaneously, the future looks bright for this promising new title in the tactical shooter genre.
