On Thursday, Google announced an update to its Gemini 2.5 Pro preview version that the company claims does a better job of handling certain programming tasks.
The company calls this update an “updated preview” that builds on the Gemini 2.5 Pro update that Google announced about a month ago. Google says that the model will become publicly available in “a couple of weeks,” and today it is available in the AI Studio and Vertex AI developer platforms, as well as the Gemini app.

“[Gemini 2.5 Pro] continues to demonstrate excellent coding results, leading the way in challenging coding tests,” Google writes in its blog. “It also demonstrates top-notch performance [on] very challenging tests that evaluate the mathematical, scientific, cognitive, and reasoning capabilities of the model.”
What else is new? Google says it has taken into account feedback from users of the previous version of 2.5 Pro, improving the style and structure of the model. Now, 2.5 Pro can be “more creative with better formatted answers,” according to Google.
