TVi Interested in Acquisition of Tonis

    tviThe TVi TV company is interested in the acquisition of the Tonis TV company, director general of the TVi Mykola Kniazhytskyi told the MediaBusiness publication.

    He said that other companies also intend to acquire Tonis and they intend to do it through court proceedings.

    Kniazhytskyi also said that TVi is currently holding broadcasting in over 10 cities of Ukraine.

    At the same time, he did not name the cities saying that certain pressure may be imposed to the partners of the company in regions.

    He also said that the leadership of the Concern of radio broadcasting, radio communication and television impose pressure to stop the broadcasting of the TVi channel.

    As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the National Television and Radio Council assesses as unfounded a statement by TVi television company saying the council demanded that the television company be removed from broadcasting.

    The District Administrative Court of Kyiv on June 8 cancelled the results of the competition for broadcasting licenses that the national Television and Radio Broadcasting council held on January 27. TVi won 33 frequencies and TV Channel 5 — 26 frequencies at the January 27 tender.

    U.A. Inter Media Group won 20 frequencies then.

    The National Television and Radio Council on June 9 released a list of violations during a tender held by the national council on January 27, 2010, to allocate frequencies and violations during formalization of the results of the tender.
