TikTok launches a new security checking tool

While the future of TikTok remains uncertain, the app continues to receive new features. The latest one is called Security Check, which is a centralized dashboard designed to help you keep your account safe.

You can find the tool by going to Settings & Privacy > Security & Permissions in the TikTok app. The idea behind the Security Checker is to make it easier for you to do things like link your phone number and email address to make sure you have a backup login method, enable two-factor authentication, set up an access key, and enable biometric login options like face recognition.

In addition, you can see which devices have logged into your account to revoke access for those you don’t recognize or no longer use. Conveniently, TikTok flags any unusual behavior it detects on your account, and you can review any oddities here.

We’ve seen other major platforms implement similar features in the past. For example, Instagram launched a tool also called Security Checkup back in 2021. However, it’s better late than never to add handy features, especially when it comes to helping users protect their accounts.
