The dating app Bumble is adding several new security features, including an identity verification tool. This allows users to submit a government-issued ID to the system. Once verified, profiles receive a nice and shiny verification icon so that potential matches know everything is in order.
Bumble users can now filter profiles based on who has been verified. There’s even a request tool to ask for a match to complete the process. Identity Verification is currently available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and several other countries, and will be available in other countries soon.
The platform has also introduced the so-called Share Date. This security feature allows users to share date details with a trusted person. Date information includes who they are meeting with, when it starts, and where it is supposed to take place. If plans change, the information can be easily updated in the app. Match has something similar called Date Check-In. Tinder even has its own version of this tool.
Latest security update: Bumble has updated its “Preview Before Sending” tool. It warns users when a message might be inappropriate. This was originally a pilot program that was rolled out as part of the Compliments feature, but has now been extended to all chats.
Finally, today’s update brought something called Discover. It’s “a personalized experience and a new way to find common ground on Bumble.” To that end, it shows the most compatible people based on similar interests and dating intentions. The list is updated daily. Bumble says the Discover page will continue to improve and provide more accurate connections as users update their preferred interest icons and complete their profiles.
