Meta has finally allowed Threads users to set their subscriptions feed or any other feed as their default feed. This change is part of a number of new features to Threads, including the ability to limit replies to posts to followers only, an improved video player, and the ability to add topics to your bio.
Since the social network’s launch in December 2023, Threads users have been asking for the ability to choose their next feed by default, and Meta has finally given in. After testing the option to choose a default feed late last year, it is now being rolled out so that you can set a custom feed or a default feed that will remain even when you close and reopen the app.
Threads also has more options for controlling how people interact with your posts. You can now limit replies and quotes to your followers only, which will help limit the number of people who interact with and share your posts.
Meta is also testing the ability to add up to 10 topics to your bio so you can point others to your favorite communities or interests. Prompts will also appear in drafts to suggest you add a popular topic. “According to our internal data, tagged posts get more views than untagged posts, making them an effective way to reach more people,” Mehta says.
Finally, the Threads video player has received a much-needed update. It now has pause, play, and skip buttons, and Meta has added an attached progress bar to make it easier to scroll through videos.
