The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine held a meeting with heads of associations and regional IT clusters. The meeting was organized by the IT Ukraine association. The goal is to identify the vectors of work for the development of the industry, discuss problematic issues for the community and help solve them.
This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
What was discussed
Focus of the meeting:
- maintaining stable conditions for the industry;
- joint initiatives to develop defense technologies;
- human capital development;
- global promotion of the Ukrainian technology sector.
“It is very important for us to build a systematic dialog with the IT industry, because today it is an industry that supports the country’s economy with its taxes,” says Fedorov.
The importance of IT
The share of IT in the country’s GDP is almost 5%. Last year, the state budget received UAH 20.8 billion in taxes from the sector. This is UAH 3.1 billion more than in 2022. One employed IT professional creates and retains almost three jobs in the economy.
In addition, IT professionals are actively helping to meet the needs of the frontline with their donations. According to a study by IT Research Ukraine, IT professionals collectively donate about $80 million every month, which is almost 3 billion in hryvnias.
“I thank everyone who joined the meeting. The feedback received will help us move even faster – to remove blockers to the development of the industry, improve the Diia.City space, and implement new projects to support the industry,” the official said.
Recently, IT Ukraine Association presented the research Digital Tiger: the Power of Ukrainian IT – 2023. In it, experts analyzed and compared the state and potential of Ukrainian IT with other countries and reasonably identified the advantages of the Ukrainian IT industry in the global market.
