Lux, the company that develops the Halide iPhone camera app, released a plan on Monday detailing the next version of the app, called Halide Mark III, due out next year.
The company said Halide Mark III will come with two new features: Color gradations and a proprietary approach to HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos. The company plans to add color gradations or filters that will make images look like they were taken with a film camera. The company already has a similar feature in its Kino video app.
The app will also receive a redesign to integrate new features into the user interface. As a reminder, Lux released Halide Mark II in 2020.
Over the past few years, Lux has developed proprietary algorithms for various Halide features, such as ultra-high resolution for macro photography and a no-process mode that minimizes the amount of image post-processing.
The company has also launched a Discord server for the community to link to Testflight to try out the Halide Mark III in early access before its release.
