This innovative tool is designed to simplify video editing, particularly for concert footage and other multi-performer events, by automatically tracking and centering a chosen subject.
From Fan Demand to AI Feature
The inspiration behind My FanCam comes directly from the K-pop fan community. Previously, fans wanting to isolate their favorite idol from a group performance in a video had to manually crop, adjust framing, and meticulously edit the timeline. This process was time-consuming and often resulted in less-than-perfect shots.
My FanCam aims to eliminate this hassle. With a single click, the feature can identify and track a specified individual within a video. The AI then automatically recomposes the shot, ensuring the selected person remains the central focus as they move. This intelligent recomposition happens automatically, transforming complex editing tasks into a simple selection process.
How My FanCam Works
When a user processes a video with My FanCam, the AI first analyzes all the individuals present. After the initial analysis, users can switch between different subjects to instantly preview their respective automatically edited clips. This means you can select your favorite performer, and then with another tap, see how the AI has framed a different performer.
The feature offers flexibility in output formats, providing three aspect ratios: 16:9 for standard horizontal videos, 9:16 tailored for vertical social media content like TikTok or Instagram Reels, and 1:1 for square-format posts on platforms like Instagram.
AI Processing On-Device
A significant aspect of My FanCam is its AI processing. Samsung has confirmed that the AI workload for this feature is handled entirely on the device itself. This means the video analysis and recomposition do not rely on cloud servers, enhancing privacy and potentially reducing latency. However, Samsung notes that longer video durations will naturally require more computational power from the phone.
