Samsung has recently implemented price increases across its popular Galaxy A series smartphones, affecting models in markets including the United States and China. This adjustment follows a similar price hike for the Galaxy S26 series announced earlier. The changes see several Galaxy A models becoming notably more expensive, with some experiencing increases of up to 18.9% in China and 12.96% in the US.
Price Adjustments in China
In China, Samsung’s official website saw price revisions for both the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy A57 series. The Galaxy A57, a mid-range offering, experienced a price jump for its two main configurations. The 8GB + 256GB variant increased from 3,299 yuan to 3,799 yuan, marking a rise of 500 yuan or 15.2%. The higher-tier 12GB + 256GB model also saw its price elevated from 3,699 yuan to 4,399 yuan, an increase of 700 yuan, representing an 18.9% surge.
US Market Price Hikes
Reports from sources like Android Headline indicate that Samsung has also adjusted prices for the Galaxy A57, A37, A27, and A17 models in the US. These adjustments vary by model and storage capacity, with the highest percentage increase observed in the Galaxy A37 5G 256GB model, which rose by 12.96%.
Specific US Price Increases:
- Galaxy A57 5G: The 128GB version increased by $50.00 (9.09%) to $599.99, while the 256GB version went up by $70.00 (11.48%) to $679.99.
- Galaxy A37 5G: The 128GB model saw a $40.00 (8.89%) increase to $489.99, and the 256GB variant is now $70.00 (12.96%) more expensive at $609.99.
- Galaxy A27 5G: This model’s 128GB configuration increased by $30.00 (8.57%) to $379.99.
- Galaxy A17 5G: The 128GB version saw a $20.00 (8.00%) price increase, reaching $269.99.
The Cheapest Model Faces the Biggest Cumulative Jump
Perhaps the most striking change is for the entry-level Galaxy A17 5G. Launched in January 2026 with a price tag of $199.99, its price has gradually climbed. It first rose to $249.99 over the past few months and has now been further increased to $269.99. When comparing the current price to its original launch price, the Galaxy A17 5G has seen a cumulative increase of approximately 35%, totaling $70.00.
These staggered price adjustments across different regions and models suggest a broader strategy by Samsung to re-evaluate its pricing for the budget-friendly and mid-range smartphone segments. While the exact reasons for the increases are not specified, they could be influenced by rising component costs, supply chain dynamics, or a strategic repositioning of its product lineup.
