Redmi Note 14 Pro in the works, which is believed to compete with the Realme 12 series

Redmi plans to launch the Redmi Note 13 series of smartphones worldwide on January 4. India will be the first market outside of China to receive the Note 13 line on this day. Subsequent releases are planned for other markets. As the global market prepares for the release of the Note 13 series, a Chinese informant claims that the brand is preparing to introduce the Note 14 series for the domestic market.

Realme 12 Pro vs. Redmi Note 14 Pro is likely to happen soon

Recent reports have shown that Realme plans to introduce the Realme 12 series of smartphones in the first quarter of 2024. The Realme 12 lineup is likely to include multiple models, but the rumors have not yet revealed significant details. However, reports have provided key details about the Realme 12 Pro series.

The Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ are expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. The Realme 12 Pro’s rear camera is speculated to feature a 32-megapixel Sony IMX709 telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. The Realme 12 Pro+, on the other hand, is said to feature a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

According to a Chinese leak, the Realme 12 series, especially the Pro line, will face competition from the Redmi Note 14 series. The Redmi Note 13 series was introduced in China in September, so the company is likely to keep a six-month gap before announcing the Redmi Note 14 line. This suggests that it could debut in the first quarter of 2024, possibly in February. The source claims that the Note 14 series will have a curved-edge display, some flagship-level features, and the same price range as Realme’s counterparts. The Note 14 series will also decentralize some of the camera features that are available on the company’s flagship smartphones.

Unfortunately, there is currently no information about the technical specifications of the Redmi Note 14. Since a competing brand is set to introduce telephoto and periscope telephoto cameras in the 12 Pro series for around 2000 yuan (~280 USD), it is possible that the Redmi Note 14 Pro could have a telephoto camera and the Note 14 Pro+ could have a periscope telephoto camera. It’s too early to speculate on the specs of the Note 14 lineup, so it’s advisable to wait for further announcements before making any assumptions.
