Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G can be called the most successful representative of the Redmi Note 13 line of smartphones from Chinese Xiaomi. After all, it fully complies with the strict rectangular design and has good characteristics. At the same time, the flagship model Note 13 Pro+ 5G, which is still being reviewed, somewhat reproduces the design a la Samsung with its curved screen at the edges. However, as the saying goes, “There is no arguing about tastes.”
In addition, there is still no 5G in Ukraine, so it is not yet possible to enjoy mobile megastream speeds. However, here are the results of Wi-Fi in Vega’s (or Vodafone’s) gigabit network – 150 – 175 Mbps at 5 GHz.
Unboxing the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G
The box for Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G and the bundle are standard, just like its non-5G brother.
The box contains a variety of technical information about the manufacturer and supplier, as well as the characteristics of the model itself. We received a Midnight Black smartphone for review. Inside the box, we see a case of the same color as other models, a white charger with a capacity of 67 W, a USB-C connection cable, a paper clip for accessing the SIM card tray, and documentation. By the way, the screen already has a protective film on it.

Design of Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G
The smartphone has an extremely attractive appearance. Its rear glass surface reflects the image like a black space mirror. At the same time, the perimeter frame is made of plastic.
Note 13 Pro 5G has a rather restrained design. It is almost a rectangular “brick”, but with rounded corners. It holds firmly in the hand and does not slip on the surface when placed on a table and leaned against an object to watch a video.
The main camera island on the rear panel, consisting of three lenses and an LED flash that also serves as a flashlight, stands out.
There is also a nice Redmi 5G inscription.
Protective case
But we still don’t recommend constantly admiring the beautiful back surface to avoid damaging it. For this purpose, a very handy silicone protective case is included, which has precisely fitted holes.
The case has a square protrusion around the perimeter above the main camera lenses, so it protects them well when placing the smartphone on any flat surface.
The perimeter protrudes above the front panel, further protecting the screen and front camera.
Moreover, the Note 13 Pro 5G in the protective case looks like a single, self-contained structure. At the same time, the black mirror remains around the camera lenses.
The layout of the controls
The device has a good build quality. The power and volume buttons are located on the right edge.
On top there is a 3.5mm headphone jack, a speaker, a noise-canceling microphone hole, and an infrared port.
A second speaker, a USB-C port and a SIM card slot are located at the bottom.
The left side is empty, so it’s convenient to put your smartphone on it in a horizontal position on the table to watch videos.
SIM card tray
The slot on the bottom end houses a tray for nano SIM cards. They can be placed on top and bottom. But there is no possibility to add a memory card. And, the smartphone supports eSIM.
Display and front panel
The front panel features an extremely bright 6.67-inch OLED screen. It has incredibly thin and smooth bezels, some of the thinnest that are currently available not only on mid-range models, but also on flagships.
As stated in the specifications, the display has 68 billion colors and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, as well as Dolby Vision support. It has a resolution of 1220×2712 pixels (1.5K) and an aspect ratio of 20:9, i.e. 446 ppi.
The typical brightness of the display is 500 nits, with High Brightness Mode reaching 1200 nits and a maximum of 1800 nits. This makes it great for use even in direct sunlight.
There is an always on display mode. This phone has a brighter screen than even many flagships.
The 16-megapixel selfie camera is located in a small hole at the top. Above it is a speaker for calls.
For biometrics, there is a very sensitive under-screen optical fingerprint reader located at the bottom of the screen. It works pretty fast, and I didn’t have any problems with it.
The front panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. This is the penultimate generation, because last year we introduced Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which protects against falling on concrete. However, the existing protective glass will save you from many troubles.
Acoustics
The speaker system of Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G is hybrid. The earpiece speaker acts as a speaker above the screen if necessary, so it has an additional sound output at the top of the frame. The main, louder speaker is located at the bottom of the phone, near the USB port. The balance between them is achieved by two sound outputs of the top speaker.
In addition, there is support for Dolby Atmos, which is enabled by default.
Redmi Note 13 Pro received a very good score in our volume test. The sound quality is very good – vocals are excellent, high frequencies are well represented, and there is a slight bass.
The sound of the smartphone is quite powerful and pleasant. Moreover, it can be listened to comfortably even without an external additional speaker. We also get high quality sound in headphones and when communicating with the speaker for conversations.
Battery life
Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G has a 5100 mAh battery. It works with an average load for two days.
The smartphone comes with a proprietary 67W Xiaomi power adapter and a 6A cable.
When the smartphone is turned off, this adapter charges the battery up to 77% in 30 minutes, and up to 98% in 40 minutes. A full charge takes 42 minutes and 20 seconds, which is quite fast. And it’s even faster, the manufacturer claims.
Power of Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G
The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, a chipset built on a 4nm process that is a slightly faster version of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. This platform is not as powerful as the 7+ Gen 2 or even the original 7 Gen 1. But it offers a performance boost over the Redmi Note 12 Pro’s Dimensity 1080.
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is equipped with an octa-core processor with four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.95GHz. There is no Prime, and the core design is older (2020).
The chipset uses the Adreno 710 GPU, which is also installed on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. It is said to support FHD+ resolution at 144 Hz.
The global variant of the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G is available in two configurations of LPDDR4X RAM + UFS2.2 memory – 8 GB + 256 GB (our variant) and 12 GB + 512 GB.
The smartphone shows pretty good results in performance tests.
The interface is the same as that of other smartphones in the series. It runs on MIUI Global 14.0.2 based on Android 13. Many necessary applications from both Google and Xiaomi are preinstalled. Read more in the review.
Photo and video capabilities
The main camera of Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G is simply excellent. It works at its best in both day and night light, as it has a special night mode. It’s just like daylight! There is a “200 megapixel” shooting mode, but such files have a resolution of exactly 199.8 megapixels – 16320 × 12240 and weigh up to 80 MB.
Test photos
So check out the photos taken in different shooting conditions, both during the day and at night.
Test videos
I also suggest watching videos shot in 4K format, both in sunlight on the ice and in artificial light in the pool.
Expert opinion
As I said above, the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G offers a significant upgrade over its predecessor. It’s a reliable all-around device that’s hard to complain about. The display is bright and gorgeous, the performance is good, the main camera is simply unbeatable, and the fast charging solution is very competitive, not to mention the battery life.
