realme has announced the August update for its realme UI 7.0, bringing a host of new features and optimizations aimed at enhancing user experience. The update, which began rolling out on August 21st, includes improvements to desktop management, payment options, AI assistance, security, and more, across a range of realme devices.

Key Enhancements in realme UI 7.0 August Update

Desktop and Lock Screen Innovations

One of the standout features is the new quick cleanup gesture for desktop badges. Users can now use a two-finger outward pinch gesture to clear all application badges on the home screen with a single action. Additionally, the lock screen now supports a “Lock Screen Island” feature for Kugou Music (concept version), allowing for immersive full-screen lyrics display while listening to music.

Enhanced Wallet Functionality

The realme Wallet has been upgraded with the addition of the “Traffic Pass” (交通优行卡). This new card offers a zero-fee setup, allowing users to pay for rides after use, and provides convenient access to public transportation, including buses and subways, across over 330 cities nationwide.

Smarter Assistant Features

realme’s AI assistant, “Xiaobu” (小布), and the “Fluid Cloud” (流体云) have received significant upgrades. The smart arrival reminder function now covers subway systems in more cities, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Fuzhou, Xi’an, Changchun, Foshan, Qingdao, and Wuxi. This feature is already available for Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Xi’an, Hefei, Shenyang, Nanjing, Fuzhou, Changchun, Suzhou, Foshan, Qingdao, and Wuxi.

The AI capabilities extend to displaying coupons from Alipay that are waiting for redemption within Xiaobu Suggestions and Fluid Cloud. The “Xiaobu Memory” feature has also been optimized. Its accounting insights now allow users to tap on consumption preference tags generated from their bills to view detailed transaction history. For travel, the travel collection map function enables users to view daily route maps and driving times between locations while sliding through single-day itineraries. The automatic collection feature has been expanded to sync favorite content from realme and UC browsers, Quark, and Toutiao Lite, among other applications.

Robust Security and Privacy Measures

Data privacy is a key focus, with the introduction of a new identification and interception mechanism for application privacy data theft, promising 24-hour data security. In the “All App Behavior Records” section, users can now see the privacy substitute protection status, indicated by a privacy substitute badge in the top right corner when an app uses a privacy substitute.

The Phone Manager app has also seen improvements. Users can now customize the homepage with frequently used tools, adjusting the display of features as needed. The experience for hidden apps has been optimized, allowing users to switch to a floating window display by swiping up from the bottom of the screen to the top-right floating window area while using the app. Furthermore, the scope of risk application permission control has been broadened to manage more permissions, such as accessibility services and all file access. In case of “Virus Risk” detection, the Phone Manager will automatically set all critical permissions of the risky app to “disallow” and enable privacy substitute to replace sensitive data. The storage cleaning page is now more user-friendly with partitioned displays.

Other Notable Improvements

The Weather app now supports adding a “Typhoon Path” card to the desktop, providing real-time information on typhoon paths, wind force, and intensity. The Notepad app allows users to directly doodle on images when viewing them.

Device Interconnection and Update Rollout

The cross-device clipboard synchronization function has been optimized. Users can now extract text and tables using the Xiaobu scan function on their phone and paste them seamlessly onto connected computers, tablets, or other phones.

The update is being progressively rolled out in batches to devices running realme UI 7.0 and below. Eligible models include the realme GT8 Pro, realme Neo8, realme GT7 Pro Racing Edition, realme Neo7, realme Neo7 SE, realme GT6, realme GT8, realme GT7 Pro, realme GT7, realme Neo7 Turbo, and realme GT5 Pro.
