Qualcomm Welcomes Former Motorola President Sergio Buniac

Qualcomm announced on August 20th that Sergio Buniac, who served as President of Motorola Mobility under Lenovo since 2018, will officially join Qualcomm on September 2nd. Buniac will take on the role of Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Mobile, Compute, and Extended Reality (XR) business group.

New Role and Responsibilities

In his new capacity, Buniac will oversee Qualcomm’s smartphone, personal computing, smart wearables, and XR businesses, with a focus on next-generation AI-powered devices. He will report directly to Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon.

Cristiano Amon expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, stating:

“Sergio is a proven business leader with more than 30 years of experience in the mobile industry. He has an exceptional track record of driving innovation, transformation, and business expansion, as well as leading major industry transitions. Sergio also has deep expertise in building compelling consumer devices globally, from design to commercialization.”

His leadership is expected to bolster Qualcomm’s strategic initiatives in the rapidly evolving mobile and AI landscape.
