Oppo Watch X with WearOS to be released on February 29

Oppo has confirmed that it will announce the WearOS-based OPPO Watch X, which will be launched on February 29 in Malaysia. As shown in the image below, this will be the company’s first smartwatch with a round dial, which is different from the square design of previous models. It looks like this could be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Watch 2, which is scheduled to debut on February 26 at MWC 2024.

The Watch X is available for pre-order on OPPO’s website with a deposit of RM 50 (~$10) in Malaysia. The watch will be available in two band options: Mars Brown and Platinum Black. The company has not yet confirmed the key specifications of the smartwatch.

The OPPO Watch X with the model number OWWE231 was spotted in the Malaysian SRIM certification database in November 2023. Coincidentally, the OnePlus Watch 2, identified with a similar model number OPWWE231, was spotted in India’s certification database in October 2023. This suggests that the OPPO Watch X and OnePlus Watch 2 may be the same device sold under different names in different regions.

The same device is also said to be headed to the Chinese market. The Chinese variant of the device, which has the model number OWW231, has already been approved by the MIIT and 3C certification platforms in that country. These certifications showed that the smartwatch will support 4G LTE connectivity via eSIM. It is expected to hit the Chinese market in March under the OPPO Watch 4 brand.

For those without a smartwatch, OPPO also offers the OPPO Watch 4 Pro with a square display in China (announced in August 2023).

Reports about OPPO Watch X / OnePlus Watch 2 suggest that it will feature a round 1.43-inch OLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, dual Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and BES 2700 chipset, 1 GB of RAM, 500 mAh battery with 10W charging capability, and will offer connectivity options such as Bluetooth, 2.4GHz/5GHz Wi-Fi. It is also expected to have an IP68-rated body. In China, the device will run on ColorOS for Watch 6.0, while the global variant will have WearOS 4.
