Oppo’s flagship Find X7 series of smartphones will be launched next week. These devices are highly anticipated and represent the latest premium devices that offer top-notch specifications and features. Here is a detailed review of the Find X7 and Find X7 Ultra.
Oppo Find X7 series: Design and display
After a series of rumors and leaks, the design of the Find X7 series has finally been confirmed. A recent hands-on video also offered us an in-depth look at their design. The Find X7 is available in four colors, namely: Sea and Sky, Desert Moon Silver, Smokey Purple, and Starry Sky Black. The black and purple ones have a glass panel on the back with a large round camera module, while the other two variants have a two-tone design complemented by leather trim on the bottom half.
This design is also reflected in the Desert Moon and Sea and Sky variants of the Find X7 Ultra, although the Pine Shadow Ink variant is the only model with a glass panel. The round camera module also features Hasselblad branding. The Find X7 Ultra is also rumored to offer a three-step notification slider.
On the front, the Find X7 Ultra features a tall 6.82-inch LTPO BOE 8T OLED display with 2K resolution, 2160Hz PWM and variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz. Similarly, the base Find X7 features a 6.78-inch LTPO BOE 8T OLED display with 1.5K resolution, 2160Hz PWM and 120Hz variable refresh rate.
Both models have a centered selfie camera hole, and the panel has curved edges on the sides with rounded corners. The Find X7 series is expected to be optimized to support high frame rates, which will provide a smoother gaming experience. For more brightness, they will also offer 3Pulse/1Pulse DC dimming.
Technical characteristics
The Oppo Find X7 lineup comes with some powerful specs. Under the hood, the vanilla model is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, which is expected to be paired with up to 16GB of LPDRR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. The Ultra, on the other hand, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip that is paired with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. Both devices are expected to come with a 5,000 mAh battery with 100W charging capability.
The Find X7 Ultra is likely to offer 50W wireless fast charging as well. It’s worth noting that the Find X7 series will also include a third version, the Find X7 Ultra, with satellite connectivity. As the name suggests, it is virtually identical to the regular Ultra model, but has two-way satellite connectivity. The future flagship smartphones will also run Android 14 based on the custom ColorOS 14 shell. Other features include NFC, WiFi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4.
Camera
For photography, the Find X7 offers a triple camera setup, while the Find X7 Ultra has a quad camera on the back. The vanilla model features a 50-megapixel LYT-808 primary sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization), which is paired with a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 ultra-wide-angle lens and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B OIS-enabled periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
Find X7 Ultra is the first ever smartphone with a 1-inch 50-megapixel Sony LYT-900 camera as its primary sensor. It is also the world’s first smartphone with a dual periscope telephoto lens: 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 sensor with 3x optical zoom and 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 sensor with 6x optical zoom. Finally, the Ultra model has a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 ultra-wide-angle lens. The entire Find X7 series is expected to have a 32-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies and video calls.

Oppo is planning to unveil the Find X7 series on January 8, 2024. A recent leak claimed that the Find X7 will be priced from 3,999 yuan (approximately $465) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage version. Other memory configurations are likely to cost a bit more. Unfortunately, detailed pricing information for Find X7 Ultra is not yet available.
