On June 27, OnePlus will hold a presentation of several devices in China. Among them are the productivity-oriented OnePlus Ace 3 Pro phone and the OnePlus Pad Pro tablet. Both devices are expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. In addition to these devices, the brand is also announcing OnePlus Buds 3 TWS headphones and a new smartwatch. In China, the watch will be labeled OnePlus Watch 2, but rumors suggest that its global edition may be called OnePlus Watch 3. A new leak shows that the device will be part of the existing OnePlus Watch 2 series for the global market.
Information on OnePlus Watch 2R branding for the global market has been released
In a recent tweet, reliable leaker Max Jambor mentioned the name “OnePlus Watch 2R”. However, he did not say anything else about the device. Most likely, this could be the final name of the upcoming global version of the OnePlus smartwatch.
Earlier this year, OnePlus introduced the OnePlus Watch 2 to the global market, but it was skipped for China. Since it hasn’t even been six months since the Watch 2 launch, the next watch is unlikely to be branded as OnePlus Watch 3. In other words, the next smartwatch may be branded as OnePlus Watch 2R globally, while in China it may be called OnePlus Watch 2.
The TENAA certification in China showed that the device will have a 500 mAh battery and support LTE communication. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about its other characteristics.
Watch 2 has the model number OPWWE231, while the upcoming smartwatch has a similar model number OPWWE234. This once again hints that the upcoming OPWWE234 could be a new variant of the OnePlus Watch 2.
OnePlus usually uses the letter “R” for the affordable offerings of its flagship products. For example, the OnePlus 12 has an affordable sibling called the OnePlus 12R. Similarly, the upcoming OnePlus Watch 2R may be a cheaper version of the Watch 2.
