Television Studio “Information Service” Ltd (NTN Channel, Kyiv) has brought a claim to the court against the outcomes of the contest held by the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting to grant 17 TV companies broadcast licences for 89 TV channels, Andrii Miroshnychenko, first deputy chairman of the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting, said at a news briefing.

The NTN lawsuit refers to Kyiv Administrative Court’s ruling of December 16 (at TVi lawsuit) that banned the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting to hold any contest for “idle” TV channels scheduled for October 9, Yurii Plaksiuk, member of the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting, said.

The law department of the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting informed Ukrainian News that the lawsuit had been lodged to Kyiv District Administrative Court to be examined in March.

As Ukrainian News reported, the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting selected on January 27 via a competition 17 television companies to broadcast on 89 television channels.

Three members of the National Council for TV and Radio Broadcasting said on January 28 the broadcast licences were issued unlawfully since firstly, the court ruling was in effect, and secondly, there was not required quorum during the decision-making.
