Norway’s telecom company Telenor may take part in possible privatisation of Ukrtelecom, Ukraine’s largest telecommunications company, Telenor Group Ukraine corporate commutations director Anastasia Hoholeva has announced to Ukrainian News.
“We are not ruling out such a possibility,” she said when asked if Telenor was going to take part in the possible privatisation of Ukrtelecom.
Hoholeva added, the company would make a decision only after privatisation conditions are announced.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, State Property Fund acting chairman Oleksandr Riabchenko on March 24 announced the Fund’s plans to sell some 7% of shares in Ukrtelecom in 2010.
Ukrtelecom has market capitalization of about UAH 10 billion, while the starting price of the enterprise makes UAH 7 billion, according to Riabchenko.
Telenor holds 56.51% shares in mobile communication operator Kyivstar, 18.3% of shares in Russian companies Golden Telecom, Inc and 26.6% of VimpelCom.
Besides, Telenor owns 50% plus one shares in Norwegian IT company EDB Business Partner, majority shareholders of Miratech and Infopulse Ukraine.
