Get ready, space explorers! Hello Games has officially announced that the acclaimed action-adventure survival game, No Man’s Sky, is set to launch on Apple’s iOS platform on October 28th. This means iPhone and iPad users will soon be able to embark on their own interstellar journeys.
A Universe in Your Pocket
Originally released in August 2016 for PS4 and Windows, No Man’s Sky offers players an unparalleled freedom to explore a procedurally generated, open universe. This vast cosmos features literally trillions of planets, each teeming with unique flora and fauna. The game’s core appeal lies in its sense of discovery, survival, and the sheer scale of its infinite worlds.
From Mac to Mobile
The journey to bringing No Man’s Sky to iOS began after its successful port to Mac in 2023. Sean Murray, co-founder of Hello Games, expressed the team’s desire to see the game running on iPhones shortly after the Mac version’s release. This ambition has now materialized, bringing the expansive universe to a new generation of mobile devices.
Optimized for Touch and Beyond
The iOS version of No Man’s Sky has been meticulously redesigned with optimized touch controls for mobile play. For iPad users, the experience is further enhanced with support for controllers, keyboards, and mice, offering a more versatile gameplay experience. Crucially, the game’s file size is kept under 5GB, making it accessible for a wide range of devices, requiring at least an iPhone 11 or an iPad Air 3 and above.
Future Updates Planned
While the initial iOS release will focus on the core exploration and survival mechanics, certain features like multiplayer and base building will not be available at launch. Hello Games has stated its commitment to monitoring player feedback and plans to gradually introduce these popular features in future updates. This phased approach ensures a stable and enjoyable experience for all players as the mobile version evolves.
The arrival of No Man’s Sky on iOS marks a significant milestone, bringing a massive, acclaimed open-world experience to a portable platform, further expanding the reach of this ambitious title.
