satelliteThe National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting on Wednesday annulled eight companies’ licenses for digital broadcasting, first deputy head of the National TV Council Oksana Holovatenko has told a news briefing.

“Today we have passed eight decision to annul licenses,” she said.

Among these companies Holovatenko called: Inter Kivar, Vekta Plus (both based in Kyiv) and Futurama (Vishniovoye, Kyiv region).

In her words, M2 (music) is the only channel broadcasting in the MX-4 format at the moment.

At the same time, the National TV Council provided the channel Unian TB with a possibility to start digital broadcast within a month.

“The second channel is Unian TB. Judging from that for today they have presented very strong arguments for the company is ready to start digital broadcast in a month… we heard them and made advances,” she said.

As to Holovatenko, the next competition for digital broadcast in the MX-4 format will be held not before September.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the National TV Council in February said it was about to take away licenses for digital broadcasting from nine companies.

Under international agreements, Ukraine shall have switched to digital TV broadcasting before 2015.
