miHoYo’s legal department has announced that a user on a social platform, identified as “Wang Daxiong” (real name Wang Mouxiong), has been subjected to mandatory legal measures for fabricating and spreading false information about the company. The case involves allegations of formaldehyde safety issues and outsourcing discrimination at miHoYo’s new facilities.
Rumors Sparked by Viral Screenshot
The incident began on July 26, 2026, when a months-old, anonymously sourced chat screenshot suddenly gained traction on a social media platform. The image, which alluded to “formaldehyde safety” and “outsourcing discrimination,” was later linked to miHoYo by a user named “Wang Daxiong.” This user commented, implying they were an insider at miHoYo’s new campus, and directly accused miHoYo of discriminating against outsourced workers during formaldehyde testing in its new Shanghai office. This single comment quickly garnered thousands of likes and was re-shared across multiple platforms, leading to widespread misinformation and severe negative sentiment directed at miHoYo.
miHoYo Denies Allegations, Confirms Legal Action
miHoYo’s legal department has thoroughly investigated the claims and confirmed that the screenshot, in both its content and format, has no connection to the company. The individual, identified as Wang Mouxiong, who is suspected to be an employee of another gaming company in the same vicinity, fabricated and disseminated these falsehoods without any factual basis. This act caused significant damage to miHoYo’s reputation.
Upon verification, miHoYo’s legal team immediately gathered evidence and reported the matter to the public security authorities. The authorities have since opened an investigation into the case as intentional provocation and disturbance of public order. As a result, the perpetrator, Wang Mouxiong, has been lawfully detained and subjected to mandatory legal measures.
Commitment to Truth and Legal Recourse
miHoYo reiterated its openness to supervision and criticism from all sectors of society. The company supports legitimate inquiries and discussions based on verifiable facts, which can be pursued through proper channels. However, miHoYo declared its unwavering commitment to pursuing legal action against those who fabricate and intentionally spread false information.
The company also encouraged the public to actively report any related infringing information to their dedicated email address: notice@service.mihoyo.com. This initiative aims to collaborate with users in maintaining a clear and healthy online environment. The statement concluded with the adage, “Rumors stop with the wise, and even more so with the law,” emphasizing their firm stance against online defamation.
