Meta adds displays to its Ray-Ban smart glasses

It seems that Meta is preparing to add displays to its popular Ray-Ban line of smart glasses, according to a report by the Financial Times. These screens could appear in the next iteration of the device as early as next year. The most likely release time is the second half of 2025.

According to people familiar with Meta’s plans, the screens will be smaller and will likely be used to display messages or responses from Meta’s AI virtual assistant. It is unlikely that the company plans to make this device a full-fledged mixed reality device.

For this, Meta has the recently introduced Orion augmented reality glasses, which are still several years away. The same report notes that the positive response to the Orion glasses has likely accelerated development and possibly secured a commercial release. It was unclear whether these glasses would remain an internal prototype.

Ray-Ban smart glasses have become an unexpected hit for Meta, and it’s easy to see why. They look great and work great. The current model includes eartips, cameras, microphones, and access to the Meta virtual assistant.

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses are, after all, the perfect device for taking quick photos of your pet. Have you ever tried to get an animal to stay still so you can get your phone out of your bag and take a photo? Those damn cuties never do. Ray-Ban solves this problem.
