Mercedes-Benz has made a version of the app for Apple Watch

Mercedes-Benz today announced that it is bringing popular features from its mobile app to the Apple Watch so owners can interact with their cars from their wrist without having to reach for a smartphone. The company joins a growing number of automakers adding watchOS capabilities, including Honda, Ford, and Volvo.

The new app, available in the Apple Watch App Store, is compatible with Apple Watches running watchOS 9 or later, but requires the Mercedes-Benz mobile app to be installed on the iPhone to which the watch is connected.

Mercedes-Benz owners can use the watch app to monitor the vehicle’s charge or fuel level and estimated range, remotely lock and unlock the vehicle, check if the windows are closed, and locate the vehicle when it is parked, along with pedestrian-friendly navigation directions leading directly to it. For those areas where mapping is not available, users will be presented with a virtual compass that will point to the car’s location.

The features available in the Apple Watch app depend on the “vehicle model and equipment” and, as with the smartphone app, it is only compatible with Mercedes-Benz models from 2019 and later.
