A New Era for Demacia Cup
Organized by Tengjing Sports and Huya Live, the 2026 Demacia Cup International Invitational will feature 12 elite teams hailing from six major global regions. This significant upgrade from previous years signifies a commitment to fostering international competition and showcasing the highest level of League of Legends play.
Tournament Format and Schedule
The tournament will be divided into two main stages: an online group stage and an offline playoff stage. The online group stage is scheduled from October 3rd to October 8th and will adopt a Swiss-style format. In this format, teams with similar win-loss records will be paired against each other, adding a layer of strategic depth. Teams that achieve two wins will directly advance to the knockout stage, while those with two losses will enter a single round-robin to fight for the remaining qualification spots. Ultimately, 8 teams will earn their place in the offline knockout stage.
The offline playoffs will commence on October 12th and run until October 15th. This high-stakes phase will feature a single-elimination, best-of-five (BO5) format to determine the champion. The grand finals are set to take place on October 17th. Notably, the quarter-finals and subsequent matches of the knockout stage will be held offline at the Beijing Esports Center, the home venue of JDG.
Invited Teams and Qualification
The coveted spots in the 2026 Demacia Cup are distributed across various regions, reflecting their performance in the 2026 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI):
- LPL Region: 3 teams (5th to 7th place based on regional points)
- LCK Region: 3 teams (5th to 7th place based on regional points)
- LCS Region: 2 teams (4th to 5th place based on regional points)
- LEC Region: 2 teams (4th to 5th place based on regional points)
- LPLAD Region: 1 team (4th place based on regional points)
- CBLOL Region: 1 team (4th place based on regional points)
The number of slots per region is determined by their standings in the 2026 MSI. The top two regions receive three slots each, the third and fourth regions get two slots each, and the remaining regions receive one slot. The invited teams will be selected from those that have not qualified for the 2026 World Championship, prioritizing the highest-ranked teams within each region’s respective season standings or World Championship points.
In cases where an invited team declines participation, the invitation will be extended to the next eligible team based on the established qualification rules.
