Ready for the new wave of business computing
A new wave of business computing has arrived. Lenovo laptops with Intel Core Ultra processors are ready for the future of business computing. They have three computing processors: CPU (central processing unit), GPU (graphics processing unit), and NPU (neural processing unit), which can efficiently and intelligently perform the tasks of an AI computer. Offloading computing tasks to the neural and/or GPU processors improves efficiency and performance, and provides optimized power management.
Users can work with high-quality, free workflows in supported software applications such as Zoom (for which ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 are the only certified notebooks), Microsoft Teams, Studio Effects, Adobe Lightroom, and more. Features such as intelligent text input, background blur, meeting transcription, and meeting summary emails increase productivity, while digital content tools maximize creativity without impacting overall system performance.
With the AI tool Copilot in Windows, everyday tasks become easier and faster. The new features help you summarize information from web pages, create emails, change settings, and create new features in programs such as Paint, Snipping Tool, and more. Lenovo is transforming its PCs and other devices to provide personalized AI solutions. Together with its strategic partners, Lenovo has a shared vision to lead this transformational shift in personal computing.
In addition, Lenovo announced the expansion of its hybrid cloud portfolio based on the next generation of scalable Intel Xeon processors. They provide a new AI-ready platform with improved performance, the latest accelerators, and new Lenovo Professional Services for AI as a critical next step to enable a dynamic hybrid AI approach in public, private, and foundational models.
User experience requires innovation
Lenovo’s Product Diversity Division, is committed to integrating inclusion and feedback from diverse user segments in the early stages of product development. This inclusive customer engagement has always been a key goal of ThinkPad innovation.
Tactile cues have been a consistent part of the ThinkPad design since 1992 to help visually impaired users navigate the keyboard. In 2021, Lenovo partnered with the Governor Morehead School for the Blind in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, through its Product Diversity division to better understand how visually impaired users interact with their PCs.
Lenovo is the first laptop manufacturer to integrate additional tactile cues that improve accessibility. The company is coordinating these changes with the Microsoft Accessibility Team, which is working on new industry standards for keyboard design. The results of this collaboration can be seen in the new tactile cues on the keyboard. They include:
- Volume up/down: Sound is crucial for visually impaired users. The F2 and F3 keys have been tactilely marked to make it easier to distinguish between volume up and volume down.
- Insert key: The Insert and Delete keys are often placed next to each other on keyboards and can lead to time-wasting and deletion problems: it’s not uncommon for users to delete or insert files when they meant to do the opposite. The tactile mark on the Insert key makes it easier to tell the difference between the two keys.
- Function key: The Fn key is essential for people who use screen readers. It is usually located next to the CTRL key and has the same size, which often leads to inconvenience.
- Enter key: Although this seems like an obvious addition, the Enter keys can vary in size depending on your keyboard and language.
The new ThinkPad X1 laptops deliver a significantly more comfortable experience with user-centered innovations. A larger 120mm trackpad with physical buttons improves pointing accuracy and one-handed use with a built-in trackpoint.
A new feature in ThinkPad X1 allows users to customize common functions from a list of options by double-tapping the trackpoint to open its quick menu. For the first time on the ThinkPad X1, the glass Haptic TouchPad is an additional input method, and the new ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 has a larger magnetic stylus for more comfortable work.
The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon and ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 have improved temperature and power management, as well as computer vision features in the Lenovo Commercial Vantage program. The new products feature face detection to wake up from sleep mode and support adaptive dimming on external monitors, providing protection and energy savings.
The ThinkPad X1 has always been known for its display and camera features. Lenovo View provides tools to enhance camera video, including a new Low Light Enhancer feature that can make video brighter and reduce noise in low-light conditions. The software is powered by a neural processor to save energy and reduce CPU usage when running communications apps like Teams or Zoom.
The new ThinkPad X1 will include an additional 8-megapixel camera on a unique communication panel that delivers high-quality video conferencing, and on-screen content is even clearer and smoother on the latest optional 120Hz OLED display. The communication panel also improves the user experience, as the redesigned chassis features narrower bezels that provide a higher screen-to-body ratio and easy one-handed opening.
The next generation of business laptops must not only deliver a better user experience, but also continue to increase their contribution to the circular economy. The development of revolutionary supply chains, services, product design, and materials has allowed Lenovo to move to a circular “design, use, return” model.
The latest ThinkPad X1 continues to use recycled materials, PCC (Post-Consumer Recycled Content) plastic, and plastic-free bamboo and sugar cane packaging. To minimize the use of virgin materials and increase the use of post-industrial recycled (PIC) plastics, Lenovo works closely with Toray Industries, Inc. which supplies Lenovo with carbon fiber and has the support of Toray and Boeing to incorporate recycled carbon fiber material derived from carbon fiber composites used in the production of wings for the Boeing 787 aircraft into the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12.
The newest ThinkPad X1 Gen 12 and X1 2-in-1 Gen 9 are creating a breakthrough in the world of premium laptops with new AI features and customer-centric innovations designed to transform the user experience. Through continuous innovation in design, materials, and usability, as well as close collaboration with industry-leading partners, Lenovo has introduced new business laptops that are ready to deliver “AI for everyone.”
“AI innovation in the PC industry has become our passion. We’re not just building computers, we’re building experiences, using diverse designs, more sustainable materials, and revolutionary AI technologies to power the future of business computing,” said Jerry Paradise, vice president of business and product management at Lenovo Intelligent Devices Group. “The latest Lenovo ThinkPad X1 laptops will transform the way people work and interact with new speed and AI powered by Intel Core Ultra processors.
