Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun made a visit to Unitree Robotics today, accompanied by Unitree founder Wang Xingxing. The visit involved a hands-on exploration and viewing of humanoid robot performances.
A Growing Partnership
This visit highlights the deepening relationship between Xiaomi and Unitree Robotics. Back in March, during Xiaomi’s spring new product launch event, Wang Xingxing and Unitree robots made an appearance to support the new generation SU7. At that time, Lei Jun expressed his appreciation, stating, “This year marks Unitree Robotics’ tenth anniversary. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to invest in Unitree five years ago.” This comment underscores Xiaomi’s early support and belief in Unitree’s potential.
Lei Jun’s Busy Day in Tech and Mobility
Lei Jun’s day was packed with significant engagements across different sectors of the tech industry. Earlier in the morning, Lei Jun visited the headquarters of Bilibili, a popular video-sharing platform. He was warmly welcomed by Bilibili staff with a banner reading “Welcome Bilibili UP Lord Lei Jun.” He was received by Bilibili Chairman and CEO Chen Rui, signifying a collaborative or supportive gesture towards the platform.
In the afternoon, Lei Jun traveled to Hangzhou to participate in a delivery event for over 30 Xiaomi EV (SU7) owners. This handover ceremony marks another milestone for Xiaomi’s automotive venture, demonstrating progress in delivering their much-anticipated electric vehicle to customers.
Looking Ahead
Lei Jun’s active schedule, including visits to cutting-edge robotics labs and engaging with the Xiaomi EV community, reflects his multifaceted leadership and Xiaomi’s diverse business interests. The company continues to push boundaries in various fields, from consumer electronics and smart EVs to investing in and collaborating with innovative robotics companies like Unitree.
The presence of Lei Jun at Unitree Robotics, witnessing the latest in humanoid robot technology, suggests a continued interest and potential for future collaborations in advanced robotics, an area rapidly gaining traction in the tech world. This follows a pattern of Xiaomi’s strategic investments and partnerships aimed at fostering innovation across different technological domains.
