Legion Pro 5: New gaming laptop from Lenovo with i9-14900HX processor

Lenovo’s newest gaming powerhouse, the Legion Pro 5, has hit retail. This $1,800 gaming laptop is powered by Intel’s cutting-edge 14th Generation Core “Raptor Lake Refresh” processor, which promises a significant jump in performance.

Lenovo’s new Legion Pro 5 gaming laptop is expected to be officially unveiled at CES 2024

Under the hood, the Legion Pro 5 is powered by an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, a giant with 24 cores and 32 threads (8 P-Core and 16 E-Core). The processor operates at a clock speed of up to 5.8 GHz and has a maximum turbo power of 157 W (55 W PL1). Lenovo’s decision to opt for 14th Generation Core processors rather than Intel’s new Meteor Lake GPUs emphasizes the emphasis on raw processing power.

In the $1800 variant, users can expect a configuration with an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, 32GB of DDR5-5600 memory, a capacious 1TB SSD, and an 8GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. If users need more, the Legion Pro 5 offers an additional Gen4 M.2 SSD slot, and RAM can be expanded to an impressive 96GB of DDR5 memory.

The Legion Pro 5 maintains its portability with an 80 Wh battery that measures 363 x 260 x 26.75 mm and weighs 2.55 kg. Reliable connectivity: 3 USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, 1 USB 3.2 Gen1 port (always on), and 1 USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port with data transfer and DisplayPort 1.4 support. HDMI 2.1 is also on board, capable of handling 4K at 120Hz or 8K at 60Hz, meeting the demands of high-end gaming displays.

Despite the difference between the 14th Generation Core “Raptor Lake Refresh” GPUs and the recently introduced Intel Meteor Lake processors, the inclusion of Lenovo GeForce RTX 4070 ensures that integrated graphics will not be a problem for gamers. The Legion Pro 5 is getting ready for a full reveal at CES 2024, promising an immersive experience for gaming enthusiasts.
