International Open Data Day dedicated to Ukraine

International Open Data Day is an annual event dedicated to the role, value and impact of open data in the development of democracy and civil society.

Ukraine is among the leaders of Open Data

First celebrated in 2010, the event aims to create opportunities for discussion, collaboration and learning in the field of open data. On this day, conferences, meetings, and meetups are held around the world with data managers, representatives of government agencies, business, the technology community, and civil society.

Ukraine is one of the leaders in the development of open data. This year’s Open Data Day will take place on March 7 and will be dedicated to the potential of open data in overcoming wartime challenges and rebuilding Ukraine.

  • Development of open data in Ukraine.
  • The balance between security and transparency during martial law.
  • Government use of open data.
  • Digital transformation of communities through open data.
  • Data journalism to combat corruption and disinformation.

Who is it for

The event will be useful for representatives of government agencies and civil society organizations, developers of open data services, journalists, researchers, and anyone interested in open data. The event will be streamed on YouTube and on the Facebook pages of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the USAID/UK aid project Transparency and Accountability in Public Administration and Services (TAPAS), and the East Europe Foundation.

It is worth reminding that Ukraine has been setting trends in open data development for several years. In 2023, our country was ranked third in the Open Data Maturity rating, which included 35 European countries.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine with the support of the USAID/UK aid project Transparency and Accountability in Public Administration and Services (TAPAS) and the East Europe Foundation.
