Instagram has a new feature for sharing locations

On Monday, Instagram launched a live streaming feature. Now you can share your location with your friends in real time, which is convenient for meeting at concerts or other crowded places. The social platform also allows you to add nicknames in individual or group chats, and has more than 300 new stickers that can be shared in private messages.

You can enable the new location sharing feature for up to one hour. It will only show up in your private chats (one-on-one or group), and the location cannot be shared with anyone outside of that chat. By default, this feature is turned off, and you’ll see the “You’re sharing your location” indicator at the top of every message thread where you’ve turned it on. You can also manually turn this feature off at any time.

Nicknames allow you to add pseudonyms for yourself or your friends in PP. “Share an inside joke with a nickname or simplify long usernames to make your friends easier to recognize,” the Instagram blog post says.

Nicknames appear only in your Stories, not anywhere else on the platform. You can change your nickname at any time and choose which friends in the chat have permission to change your nickname. To create a nickname, click on the chat name at the top of your conversation, select “Nicknames” and choose the username you want to change.

Lastly, Instagram has added 17 new sets of stickers for PP, making more than 300 new stickers available. You can add stickers you like, including those shared by your friends.
