Hyundai has announced that it will begin distributing CCS to Tesla NACS adapters for free to its electric vehicle customers in the first quarter of 2025. The adapters will allow vehicles such as the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 to connect to “20,000+” Tesla Supercharger stations. The free adapter is available to those who purchased or leased their Hyundai EVs on or before January 31, 2025.
The NACS adapter offer applies to the 2024 Kona Electric, Ioniq hatchback, Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 and earlier models. It also includes the 2025 Ioniq 6, 2025 Ioniq 5 N, 2025 Kona Electric, and Genesis electric vehicles (the full list will be released next year). You can order a free adapter on the My Hyundai portal.
Hyundai’s sister brand, Kia, is also providing free NACS adapters to some owners from early 2025.
Meanwhile, the 2025 Ioniq 5 with Tesla’s native port will have access to the Supercharger as soon as it is delivered to customers. Tesla posted on X that it has already turned on the switch allowing the 2025 Ioniq 5 to charge at Superchargers. However, owners of older CCS-enabled models must wait for Hyundai-approved adapters to access charging stations.
