Exciting news for Huawei fans! The latest telecom device terminal network listings reveal two new Huawei devices, CMM-AL10 and CMM-AL00. Industry insiders, like blogger @数码闲聊站, are speculating that these could be the highly anticipated Huawei Mate 90 series, marking the potential return of 5G capabilities for Huawei’s domestic market.

5G’s Comeback for Huawei

The most significant detail from these new listings is the explicit mention of “5G digital mobile phone.” This suggests that Huawei’s national market will soon see the reintroduction of 5G support in its devices, a feature that has been absent due to U.S. sanctions since 2019.

Historically, Huawei’s last flagship phone to officially support 5G was the Mate 40 series, released in October 2020. Subsequent flagships, including the Mate 50 and P60 series, did not feature 5G connectivity. However, Huawei made a surprise return to 5G with the Mate 60 series in 2023. Following a HarmonyOS update, these models gained 5A communication technology, offering enhanced network speeds and stability.

The recent re-emergence of 5G on Huawei devices has been observed internationally. The Pura 90s Pro series, launched in July, and the newly released nova 16s series both support 5G. This trend now appears to be heading back to the Chinese domestic market.

Mate 90 Series – A Closer Look

While details are still emerging, the new devices are reported to feature a six-camera setup and a substantial rated battery capacity of 6615mAh. Given these specifications, the blogger suggests these models might belong to the Mate 90 Pro series.

Furthermore, Huawei’s renewed focus on its semiconductor capabilities is underscored by the “Tao (τ) Law,” recently proposed by He Tingbo, Huawei’s Board Member and President of the Semiconductor Business Unit. This new principle guides the industry’s semiconductor evolution. It’s anticipated that the upcoming Mate 90 series will incorporate new Kirin chips based on this “Tao Law.”

Reports indicate that this generation of Huawei phones will be a turning point, with significant advancements in chip technology and camera capabilities, alongside battery upgrades. According to the “Tao Law” roadmap, chip P-core frequencies are expected to reach 3.1GHz by 2026. For context, the Kirin 9030 Pro was clocked at 2.75GHz, meaning a potential 12.7% increase to 3.1GHz aligns perfectly with the projected advancements.

Looking further ahead, the “Tao Law” suggests steady increases in frequency and transistor density, with projections of 400+ MTr/mm² transistor density and a 5.0GHz main frequency by 2031. This long-term vision highlights Huawei’s commitment to innovation in the semiconductor space, aiming to overcome past limitations and drive future technological progress.

The potential arrival of the Mate 90 series with 5G support and next-generation Kirin chips would signify a major milestone for Huawei, marking a robust comeback in the competitive smartphone market.
