This week, Huawei was preparing to unveil its new flagship smartphone series, the Huawei P70. But the event was reportedly canceled. So, despite the fact that the release may be postponed, here’s a detailed look at the specs, design, pricing, and other information about the upcoming devices.
Huawei P70 series: Design and display
The next-generation P70 series has the Chinese tech giant’s signature “camera décor” on the back. This is a triangular camera island that houses the camera sensors. This design was first used in the Huawei P70 Pro Art model, but it is believed to be the only one for the entire line. For those who don’t know, the series consists of Huawei P70, P70 Pro, P70 Pro+, and P70 Pro Art. In general, all four phones will receive an updated design compared to their predecessors.
The base model is expected to have a 6.59-inch LTPO OLED display on the front, while the three higher-end versions are rumored to have a taller 6.76-inch LTPO OLED panel. These panels could be made by Chinese OLED display manufacturers such as BOE, CSOT, Visionox, and Tianma. All four models are likely to feature rounded edges, 1.5K resolution, and higher refresh rates. The panel is reported to have a perforation for a selfie camera, as well as a fingerprint scanner located below the screen.
Huawei P70 series: Technical specifications
It is expected that the Kirinm 9000S chipset will be installed under the hood of Huawei P70 series smartphones. However, the performance may not be the same in all models. In a recent GeekBench test, it was found that the ALT-AL10 and ALT-AL80 are equipped with Kirin 9000S. However, the more expensive P70 Pro+ and P70 Pro Art may have a faster chipset. The more expensive models may have a completely new Kirin processor because they have a different core structure and clock speed. But there is a chance that these will be just updated or overclocked versions of the existing Kirin 9000S.
All four models will likely have at least 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. However, the P70 Pro+ and P70 Pro Art can have up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The base model can be powered by a 5000 mAh battery, while the P70 Pro can have a larger 5200 mAh battery. The other two versions are equipped with a 5,100 mAh battery. These smartphones can get support for 88W wired fast charging. However, the vanilla P70 is equipped with 50W wireless fast charging, and the rest are equipped with 80W wireless fast charging. Another notable feature of the P70 line is satellite communication technology.
Huawei P70 Pro: Camera
For photography, the lineup is said to offer a triple camera on the back. The main camera is a 50-megapixel OV50H sensor measuring 1/1.3 inches. This sensor may also appear in the P70 Pro model. On the other hand, the P70 Pro+ and P70 Pro Art will feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX989 primary camera with a 1-inch sensor.
The latter two cameras are likely to have a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom. For video calls and selfies, a 13-megapixel camera with a 1/2.36-inch sensor can be installed on the front panel.
