Huawei Nova 12: Series launch date confirmed, design revealed

In August and September, Huawei introduced the Mate 60 series of flagship phones without any fanfare. Therefore, it was unclear whether the company would hold an event to launch the new Nova 12 series. Today, the company took to Weibo to confirm that the Nova 12 series will be announced at 12 p.m. (local time) on December 26.

Huawei Nova 12 series design revealed

The teaser video for Huawei‘s Nova 12 series shows off the signature blue variant, which is said to be the number 12. The lineup is expected to include models such as Nova 12 Lite, Nova 12, Nova 12 Pro, and Nova 12 Ultra.

Rumors surrounding the Nova 12 series claim that the Nova 12 Lite (or Vitality Edition) will have a 60-megapixel selfie camera, a 50-megapixel primary camera on the back, and an OLED panel integrated with a fingerprint sensor. In addition to blue, it is said to be available in white and black colors. It is not known whether it will be a 4G or 5G device.

The Nova 12 is said to be a 4G phone based on the Snapdragon 778G 4G chipset. It is also expected to support 66W fast charging.

Nova 12 Pro and 12 Ultra will be 5G-enabled devices that can be equipped with Kirin 9000. This is the same chip that is present under the hood of the Mate 60 line. There is a possibility that the Ultra variant may be equipped with support for two-way satellite communication.

Both models are expected to feature a 1.5K resolution curved-edge OLED panel with 100W charging support. For selfies, both phones may feature a pair of 60-megapixel dual selfie cameras. The rear camera may include a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS, an ultra-wide-angle lens, and a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom.
