HP Star Book Air 14: Design and Display
The Star Book Air 14 boasts an all-aluminum alloy body, measuring a mere 11.77mm thin and weighing in at just 1.16kg, making it exceptionally portable. It also features a versatile 180-degree hinge, allowing for flexible usage scenarios. Users can choose from four stylish color options: Starry Blue, Smoke Silver, Peony Pink, and Cantaloupe Green.
The display is a true highlight, featuring a 14-inch 1920×1200 resolution OLED panel with ten-point touch capability. This screen not only delivers vibrant colors and deep blacks but also prioritizes eye comfort. It has passed TÜV hardware low blue light certification and HP eye ease eye protection certification, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience even during extended use.
Performance and Internals
Under the hood, the Star Book Air 14 is powered by the Intel Core 5 120 processor. It comes equipped with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB solid-state drive, providing ample performance for everyday tasks, multitasking, and more. This configuration appears to mirror the overseas model, the OmniBook 5 14, which launched with a starting price of $699.99 USD (approximately 4,679 RMB at current exchange rates).
Battery Life and Connectivity
HP has equipped the Star Book Air 14 with a 60Wh battery, promising an impressive battery life of up to 42.5 hours on a single charge. For connectivity, the laptop offers two full-featured USB-C ports and an HDMI 2.1 port, providing versatile options for peripherals and external displays.
Additional Features
Other notable features include an FHD IR camera for clear video calls and Windows Hello facial recognition, dual microphones, and an audio system tuned by Poly and certified by DTS:X Ultra for an enhanced sound experience.
Pricing and Availability
The HP Star Book Air 14 is available for pre-order on JD.com, HP’s official self-operated store. The initial launch price is set at 5,299 RMB. However, after applying a government subsidy (国补), the price is reduced to approximately 4,504.15 RMB. This makes it a very compelling option for budget-conscious consumers looking for a premium ultrabook experience.
This launch signifies HP’s continued commitment to offering high-quality, feature-rich laptops at competitive price points, especially in the burgeoning ultrabook market.
