Honor has officially announced the release date of its new smartphone Honor 90 GT. The device is scheduled to launch on December 21 and is expected to be accompanied by the Honor Pad 9 tablet. A leaked poster on Weibo confirms that the Honor Pad 9 will indeed be unveiled on the same day as the Honor 90 GT.
The poster shows a tablet with a centered single-lens camera module on the back. The leak also hints at a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, suggesting mid-range performance similar to the Honor Pad 8. The poster also reveals that the tablet will run on the Android-based MagicOS operating system. In addition, its price is expected to be comparable to that of the Honor Pad 8.
In another leak from Digital Chat Station, we see three color options for the tablet: gray, green, and white, with the latter having a gradient finish. The tablet also comes with a keyboard case and stylus. The leak also indicates the possibility of 512 GB of storage. The starting price of the Pad 8 at the time of launch in China will be 1499 yuan (~222 USD).
Although the leak has already confirmed the launch date of the tablet, we expect Honor to make an official announcement regarding the launch details soon.
The tablet has already received a 3C certificate confirming support for 35W charging. In addition, the TRDA certificate in the UAE reveals the model number (HEY2-W09) and confirms the Wi-Fi only version, similar to the Honor Pad 8.
Judging by previous leaks, the Honor Pad 9 is a mid-range device that will likely inherit the core functionality of the Pad 8. The Pad 8 features a 12-inch 2K LCD screen, Snapdragon 680 processor, and will debut in July 2022.
