Honor Magic V3 is presented with flagship features

Along with the launch of Honor Magic Vs 3, the brand also introduced the Magic V3 folding phone. This is the more premium model among the two new devices. It has premium flagship-level features and is significantly inferior to the recently released Samsung Galaxy Fold 6. The Magic V3 is the successor to last year’s Magic V2, which was recognized as the world’s thinnest horizontal folding phone. However, the brand isn’t resting on its laurels with this latest offering, as it has made the device even lighter and thinner. Read on to find out everything below.

Honor Magic V3 specifications

Honor has once again outdone itself by making the Magic V3 lighter than its predecessor. Its thickness is 9.2 mm (excluding the camera bump) when folded and 4.35 mm when open. The weight has been reduced to 226 grams. The reduction in size is quite commendable and puts the folding phone on par with many flip phones. The brand claims that the device’s hinge is the thinnest to date at 2.84 mm. It is designed for 500,000 folding cycles.

Honor Magic V3 has an octagonal camera island on the back that protrudes outward. The power button doubles as an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. It also has a 7-series aluminum alloy frame. The device is IPX8 certified, making it waterproof to a depth of 2.5 meters.

In terms of display, the Honor Magic V3 has a 6.43-inch FHD+ curved-edge main screen, as well as a 7.92-inch display with a resolution of 2,344 x 2,156 pixels. Both screens have a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, support Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and a stylus. Honor claims that the device offers a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, but it’s unclear if this figure applies to both screens.

In terms of photography, the Honor Magic V3 has a triple rear camera setup. It consists of a 50MP 1/1.56-inch primary sensor with OIS, a 40MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 50MP periscopic telephoto lens with 100x digital zoom and OIS. The device is equipped with a 20-megapixel sensor placed inside the internal and external screens for selfies and video calls. Honor says that the Harcourt portrait mode will be launched in August.

Under the hood, the Honor Magic V3 is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It has up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The brand has also implemented a titanium heat dissipation system internally despite the slim profile. The foldable phone is powered by a 5150 mAh battery with 66W and 50W wired and wireless charging support. Software-wise, it runs on MagicOS 8 with various artificial intelligence features, smart private calls, parallel space, and more.

Honor Magic V3 also comes with two-way satellite connectivity, allowing you to send texts via satellite when there is no cellular network. It also has an RF signal amplification chip to improve network performance and a security chipset on board.

Price.

The starting price of the Honor Magic V3 is 8,999 Chinese yuan (1,240 USD) for the 12GB + 256GB model. The 16GB + 512GB and 16GB + 1TB configurations cost CNY 9,999 (USD 1,380) and CNY 10,999 (USD 1,516), respectively. The device is offered in Silk Road Dunhuang (brown), Qilian Snow (white), Tundra Green, Velvet Black colors. The folding phone is expected to enter international markets in the same way as its predecessor.
