Hisense has officially launched JUOS, an innovative operating system designed to act as a smart companion for the home. Announced at the Hisense Visual Technology AI Strategy and JUOS conference, this AIOS is touted as the industry’s first ‘family smart companion-level’ AIOS, signaling a significant shift from simple command-driven interfaces to intention-driven interactions.
From Commands to Intent: The JUOS Revolution
JUOS aims to redefine the smart home experience by understanding context, emotion, and user intent. The system is built around the idea that content and services should adapt based on the individual, the time, and the environment. This means more natural, human-like communication, seamless cross-screen continuity, and simplified control over a wide range of home appliances and life services.
Under the Hood: AI Powering JUOS
At the core of JUOS is its robust AIOS technical architecture, powered by the proprietary Xinghai large model and four key engines:
- Lingxi Family Context Engine: This engine utilizes cameras, voiceprints, and other sensors to perceive family members, content, space, environment, and devices. It then interprets the family context and user intentions.
- Xiaoju Duo Agent Collaboration Engine: This engine unifies user intentions and orchestrates content based on user needs, ultimately delivering personalized solutions.
- Xinghai Contextual Intelligence Engine: It provides continuous contextual understanding and natural interaction, capable of comprehending emotions, screen content, and environmental cues.
- Quan Yu Action Closed-Loop Engine: This groundbreaking engine introduces large-screen AI task execution with a closed-loop system. It autonomously dispatches the most suitable intelligent agents to execute tasks and provide feedback, completing the action cycle from user request to completion.
The self-developed Xinghai large model comes in 7B, 32B, and 72B versions, supporting multimodal understanding, intent comprehension, reasoning, planning, and tool execution.
Enhanced User Experience and Personalization
JUOS promises a deeply personalized experience, starting with its ‘Super Xiaoju’ virtual assistant, which is more capable and lifelike than before. Initially rolling out on Hisense TVs, JUOS is slated to expand to other smart home terminals in the future.

- Personalized Desktops: Upon startup, JUOS recognizes the user and presents a tailored desktop experience. For example, elders might see larger fonts and a simplified interface, while children’s profiles could automatically suggest animated content and activate eye-care modes.
- AI Fuzzy Search and Clip Search: Forgetting a movie title is no longer an issue with JUOS’s AI fuzzy search. Even more impressively, the AI Search Clip feature allows users to find specific scenes within content by describing the plot.
- Xiaoju Miaolian (Smart Connect): This feature simplifies connectivity with home devices, instantly recognizing NAS drives, enabling single-remote control for set-top boxes, and seamless integration with game consoles.
- Multi-screen Content Flow: Content can flow naturally between screens. When casting from a small screen to a large screen, playback can resume seamlessly, with automatic adjustments to audio and video quality, while still allowing for manual professional adjustments.
- Xiaoju Wenping (Screen Inquiry): Users can ask questions directly about content displayed on the screen, such as identifying a car model or an actor.
- Xiaoju Peiban (Companion Mode): Even when the screen is off, Xiaoju can act as a companion, playing music, telling stories, answering life service questions, and controlling smart home devices. It can also recognize emotions, leading to more natural and human-like responses.
Security and Future Outlook
Security is a priority for JUOS, with features like sensitive operation confirmation,随时可控 (permissions always controllable), and memory management.
