Google in Poland to develop AI in energy and cybersecurity

Under the new memorandum, Google will develop artificial intelligence in Poland to support the country’s energy and cybersecurity sectors.

Google and Poland signed a memorandum on Thursday to develop the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the country’s energy, cybersecurity and other sectors.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet and Google, said the company will allocate $5 million (€4.8 million) over the next five years to expand training programs and improve digital skills for one million young Poles.

According to Pichai, Google will also bring artificial intelligence to Poland’s strategic industries.

According to Pichai, Poland is already Google’s largest engineering center, opened in 2014, and employs more than 2,000 people.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the plans would increase Poland’s security and contribute to the country’s economic development.

Earlier this week, Tusk said that Google and Microsoft are among several companies that have pledged to invest approximately 650 billion zlotys (156 billion euros) in Poland by 2025.

Tusk also invited Google to join Poland’s deregulation efforts aimed at reducing red tape and regulations and giving businesses more room to grow.
