Owners of Android tablets or foldable computers can now customize the separator between the Gmail message list and the conversation view. 9to5Google spotted the change, which appeared in version 2025.04.13.x of Gmail for Android.
The update allows you to swipe the divider to dynamically resize the two panels of the Gmail app: the list on the left with multiple messages and the panel on the right that shows individual emails and topics. You can also drag the border to the edge of the screen to show only one of them.
The adjustable divider is also available in the Google Chat app for Android devices with a large screen. The new feature is available to anyone with a personal Google account or Google Workspace in both apps.
