Samsung’s latest Galaxy S24 series is not only about powerful features, but also about exciting new artificial intelligence capabilities known as Galaxy AI. This collection includes various AI-powered features such as circle search, live translation, and chat assistant.
Samsung announced that this new technology is powered by Google Cloud’s advanced artificial intelligence. Specifically, the S24 series will utilize Google’s Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI, leveraging the power of the cloud to improve the performance of its smartphones.
Gemini Pro is particularly good at processing and integrating different types of data, such as text, images, and video. It will be embedded in native apps such as Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard, allowing them to improve over time.
In addition to these capabilities, Gemini Pro ensures that important aspects such as security and privacy are properly managed, as stated in the press release.
Imagen 2 in the S24 series is Google’s top-of-the-line Diffusion model for converting text to images. It is used in the Gallery app on S24 for intelligent photo editing.
Samsung is also testing Google’s Gemini Ultra, a powerful tool for complex tasks, and using Gemini Nano, a smaller version for everyday phone tasks. It’s similar to what the Pixel 8 Pro does, such as giving smart responses to messages and enhancing videos and photos taken in the dark. Samsung was one of the first to test the Gemini Ultra, which will be made available to more developers and enterprises over time.
Janghyun Yoon, Corporate Vice President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business Software at Samsung, expressed his excitement that the Galaxy S24 series is the first to feature Gemini Pro.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian emphasized that Samsung developers will benefit from the platform’s high-end infrastructure and versatility, allowing them to offer these AI features to Samsung users.
