Elon Musk says he will step down from DOGE starting in May

Elon Musk has announced that he plans to step down from his work at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) starting in May.

During a telephone conversation with Tesla management, Musk said that next month he will continue to “spend a day or two” each week on DOGE matters, but will devote most of his time to his electric car company.

“Starting next month, I will be devoting a lot more time to Tesla, and now that the major work on the Government Performance Department is complete,” Musk said.

Musk’s status as head of DOGE is increasingly coming under scrutiny from Tesla investors, who are begging him to step away from the controversial project and focus more on Tesla, which is experiencing a significant drop in sales.

As a special adviser to the Trump administration, Musk was limited to only 130 days in office. Rumors were growing that he would leave the White House as his “influence appears to be waning,” according to The Washington Post.
